A Carnival of Stories
Subject: Literacy/Storytelling
Age Group: Early Years (EYFS)
Available in London and West Midlands
This special Early Years' Story Hunt designed to support Black History Month will take your children on a sensory journey starting in England in Amazing Grace, then onto Kenya in Handa's Surprise and finally to the Caribbean in Island Counting, with interactive activities based around these stories.
Benefits
Our Early Years Story Hunts support learning goals by embedding the objectives in the structure and delivery of the session.
- Listening and attention: children listen to stories anticipating key events; respond with relevant comments or actions.
- Speaking: children show awareness of listeners' needs; they develop their own narratives by connecting ideas or events.
- Moving and handling: children show good control and coordination; move confidently, safely negotiating the space.
- Self-confidence and self-awareness: trying new activities; speaking in a group; responsible for resources and props.
- Managing relationships and behaviour: working as part of a group, taking turns with others; follow instructions.
