SUMMER TERM 2022

We have been DELIGHTED to return to our schools, learning centres, and venues throughout this year.

As we learn to live with Covid-19 and the lifting of restrictions, our aim for the summer term is to move towards a more familiar (pre-covid) session delivery. We know Covid-19 is highly transmissable and still presents a risk, so we will be taking this into account with our approach and monitoring the transition carefully. But it is a positive step and one we are excited to take!

We recognise that those we visit have a fundamental duty of care towards their pupils and staff, in the same way we have a responsibility to protect our facilitators and ensure they can work safely. We will continue to support all those we work with in the best way we can.

Remember - All Freshwater sessions can be adapted for a Covid-secure delivery.

If you need a workshop or show to retain a higher proportion of Covid-19 measures, we will be very happy to oblige. Equally, our facilitators may wish to retain a higher proportion of measures, based on their individual circumstance. In either instance, we will be happy to discuss further.

If you have any questions about a current booking or would like to make an enquiry, please get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Covid-19 FAQs

  • We would love a workshop. Can it be delivered safely?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Of course! We are ready and raring to go, with adapted, COVID-safe sessions, and wonderful facilitators who are back in schools and doing what they do best: delivering fun, interactive drama workshops & shows

  • What precautions would be taken?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

We have sucessfully put measures in place, based on Government guidance for Education, along with Government guidance for the Performing Arts. We are following a set of key principles:

    • Social distancing as much as possible
    • Enhanced cleaning procedures
    • Enhanced hygiene/protective measures
    • Limited prop contact (no-contact delivery, if needed)

Further details can be sent out upon enquiry.

Our aim is to create a safe workshop environment for children, teachers and facilitators alike. We want you to book with confidence, knowing your children can still enjoy the benefits of a Freshwater session.

  • And your facilitators?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Our facilitators are encouraged to take all the necessary precautions associated with Covid-19 e.g. enhanced hand & respiratory hygiene, wearing a mask on public transport. If we have any concerns about the health of one of our facilitators, we will inform you immediately.

Once in your school, they will be following the key principles we have set out.

  • Will it still feel like a Freshwater session?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Absolutely! We have adapted our workshop delivery to make sure they are COVID safe, whilst maintaining the educational, engaging, and fun nature of a Freshwater session. Some of the activities will look a little different, but we know the children (and teachers!) will have a learning experience they recognise and enjoy.

  • Do you have a risk assessment?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Yes. Our risk assessment has been conducted using Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, and we continue to monitor government advice for safe working in education and the performing arts. In turn, our risk assessment helps us to make the best decisions when it comes to workshop delivery. A copy of our risk assessment is available on request.

  • Can we do it in the classroom?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Freshwater sessions work best in the school hall (or a similarly large space). A large, well-ventilated space is also the safest space for a workshop to take place.

If this isn't possible, then we can usually adapt the session to be in a large, cleared classroom and we will work with you to find a way for the workshops to go ahead.

  • Can we book a Large Group session or a History Show?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Absolutely! Our Large Group workshops (incl MFL) and two person History Shows can been adapted to follow our Covid-safe principles. They are suitable for up to 120 children.

If your school set up means you can’t have multiple classes together as one group, please get in touch: many of our large group sessions are also available in ‘standard’ formats, for groups of up to 30 children.

  • If we have a case of COVID-19, what do we do?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Get in touch! We will work out the best course of action- whether the scheduled visit is still possible, or if we need to postpone. These are unpredictable times for everyone, so we will work with you to find the best solution.

  • What is your cancellation policy?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

If a confirmed booking is not able to go ahead due to a COVID outbreak or enforced closure we will work with you to find a new date.

Ideally, we will reschedule to visit you as soon as it becomes safe to do so, but if you you need to postpone the booking longer, we simply ask you to reschedule or make a new booking within 12 months of the original date. For further details here, see our COVID CANCELLATION POLICY.

If you are cancelling for any other reason, our usual T’s & C’s apply.

  • We're unable to have visitors. Are there other options?
    • Greater London & Essex
    • West Midlands & South West
    • Greater Manchester

Yes. We have taken some of our most popular in- person workshops, applied some artistic flair, and created online alternatives! Your KS1 classes could experience a live virtual visit from Florence Nightingale- asking questions about her life and helping to recreate Scutari Hospital. Or your KS2 children could take a journey back to Ancient Greece with the Freshwater Time Traveller.
