Key Stage 2
Geography Drama Sessions
These geography sessions are designed for KS2 students, are led by one facilitator and are packed with drama activities to explore the topic. They have links to many cross-curricular topics such as Rainforests, the Environment, Asia, Water and Overseas Localities.
Environment Alert!
Drama workshop for KS2. In teams, the children present their different concerns about the environment at the Earth Summit. This is just one of the fun activities that will raise the children's awareness of vital environmental issues. How has our environment been damaged? How can we improve our environment? What is happening to the rainforest?
- QCA Geography Unit 8: Improving the environment
- QCA Geography Unit 21: How can we improve the area we see from our window?
An Indian Village
Drama workshop for KS2. The children take an imaginary journey to the Indian village of Chembakolli and immerse themselves in village life - fetching water, gathering crops, cooking and trying out pastimes. They will meet an imaginary Action Aid worker and debate important issues facing the villagers. They will look for signs of elephants as they walk through the forest, learn yoga at school, try out henna painting and dance at the harvest festival.
- QCA Geography Unit 10: A village in India
St. Lucia, an Overseas Locality
Drama workshop for KS1 & KS2. The Caribbean island of St. Lucia is brought to life through drama and dance. Having arrived at the small island airport the children take a coach trip to see the volcanoes, the rainforest creatures and the banana plantation. In the capital of Castries, they visit a school, meet a fisherman, enjoy a fabulous St. Lucian meal and practice their dance moves for the carnival.
- QCA Geography Unit 22: A contrasting locality overseas
Rivers and Water
Drama workshop for KS2. Creating the water cycle, debating the importance of clean water and taking an imaginative journey down a river are just some of the varied drama activities used in this thought-provoking workshop. The workshop can be tailored to focus more on rivers or more on water or can be a balanced combination of both.
