The Team Behind Freshwater

Carol Tagg, Director

Carol co-founded Freshwater in 1996 and she still performs in our History shows to this day! She has a wealth of experience within the education and arts sectors. As well as her Freshwater role, Carol also works as a Primary School Teacher in Islington. Carol loves travelling and her favourite Freshwater character is The Countess in Ancient Egyptian Exploration.

Helen Wood, Director

Helen co-founded Freshwater in 1996 and now takes a largely strategic role from her home in Stroud. She has many years of teaching and performing experience in the UK and Europe. When she is not working for Freshwater, Helen can be found tramping in the hills of Stroud with her dog or developing her solo comedy shows. She loved researching The Maya Civilization because it brought back memories of an exciting holiday in Mexico.

Sara Coffey, Project Manager (part-time)

Sara has worked in educational theatre since graduating from Bristol University in 2005. On moving to London she worked for the Young Shakespeare Company, and then Unicorn Theatre before joining Freshwater in 2010. She enjoys Where in the World is Baxter Bear? as it involves travelling the world. In her spare time Sara is likely to be singing with her choir or dashing around London on her bright pink Brompton bicycle!

Dan Griffiths, General Manager

Dan joined Freshwater in January 2016. With many theatrical credits over the last decade and having joined us from a company running tennis coaching programmes in schools, his favourite workshop is Science Machine - Healthy Eating as it combines his love of drama with staying fit and active! When not at Freshwater, Dan can often be seen cheering on the Welsh rugby team adamant that the closer he stands to the TV and louder he shouts, the better they will perform - less a hobby, more a full time job!

Isabelle Culkin, Marketing and Communications Officer

Isabelle joined Freshwater in February 2019. After graduating from Durham University, she worked as Theatre Development Coordinator for the university, also working for The Assembly Rooms Theatre. She has since worked in freelance producing roles at Theatre503, Park Theatre, Cadogan Hall and Tristan Bates Theatre. She loves the Inspiring Women workshop because it brings such awesome historical figures to life.

Lesley Jones, Administrative Officer

Lesley joined Freshwater in January 2017 after many years of working in school administration. She really enjoyed studying Drama as part of her English Literature degree at university, and also has a degree in Education, so is delighted to be working at Freshwater which combines all these elements. In her spare time, Lesley enjoys exploring London and she volunteers at Shakespeare’s Globe. Her favourite workshop is the Great Fire of London because it brings history to life.

Melinda Liu, Resources Manager (part-time)

Melinda joined the Freshwater office team in admin from 2007-2010 and then worked at Unicorn Theatre and Soho Theatre. Melinda rejoined Freshwater in August 2016 and is impressed with the growth of the company. Her favourite workshop is MFL French Storytelling as it is told in an engaging way which really helps her learn French. In her spare time, Melinda enjoys making creatures from upcycled fabrics called 'Jolly Hockey Sticks' and also enjoys a bit of hiking and cycling - depending on the weather!

Hollie Witton, Administrative Assistant (part-time)

Hollie joined Freshwater in November 2018. Having worked most recently in events organisation, she is excited to return to her theatrical roots at Freshwater and finally make use of her Education degree! A strong background in theatre and TIE has given Hollie a real appreciation of the work that Freshwater does. Her favourite workshop is The Rainbow Fish because of its interactive way of helping children explore their individuality.

Jessica Monaghan, Administrative Assistant (part-time)

Jessica joined Freshwater in July 2018 after working as a Learning Support Assistant at a primary school. After studying Performing Arts at university, she realised her talents lay less on stage and more behind the scenes, and so worked at Dominion Theatre and Broadway Theatre. Her favourite workshop is The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark because it was one of her favourite childhood books. In her spare time, you will find Jessica with her mini-me daughter singing madly to The Greatest Showman!
