Shakespeare Week

Shakespeare Week, celebrated on 12th-16th March, is just around the corner. Hard on the heels of International Book Week, will you tread the boards once more with Freshwater?

Specifically tailored for primary schools around the country to gain better understanding of Shakespeare's work - there are many classroom resources available during the week. But what better way to get to know a play, than by interacting with a live performer? Our facilitators are experts in engaging KS1 and KS2 classes, your children's confidence and comprehension is bound to improve after one of our Shakespeare Workshops.

Freshwater has several Shakespeare Workshops about specific plays for KS2 groups and a more general knowledge-based session for KS1.

Shakespeare Workshop for Key Stage One:

Shakespeare's Life and Times

Follow our facilitator through time as they appear in role as the magical ‘spirit’ Ariel from Shakespeare’s play The Tempest. Keeping your children engaged for a whole hour, using a multitude of interactive drama activities this workshop will allow the children to explore Shakespeare’s life and times. They will find out all about numerous Shakespeare plays and characters, as well as discovering more about the man behind the quill and recreating Shakespeare’s Globe theatre for themselves.

(Also available for KS2 if you would like a broader overview.)

Shakespeare Workshops for Key Stage Two:

All of our KS2 Shakespeare Workshops are linked to specific plays. They use engaging drama games and discussion to enable children to learn interactively about one of the many masterpieces Shakespeare produced. All you have to do is decide if you prefer comedy or tragedy? Play specific workshops we have available are:

• A Midsummer Night’s Dream
• Macbeth
• Hamlet
• Romeo and Juliet
• The Merchant of Venice
• The Tempest
• Twelfth Night
