A Wild Day Out
Drama workshops overlooking the Olympic Park
For KS1 & KS2
We have teamed up with the London Wildlife Trust to offer you the opportunity to see the London 2012 Olympic Park before the rest of the world.
The View Tube, a brand new education centre, is located near Pudding Mill Lane DLR station, one stop from Stratford. With spectacular views of the Stadium, Aquatic Centre and the rest of the Olympic development site, it’s the perfect place to get your pupils excited about the London 2012 Olympics.
During a half day session, not only will each of your classes take part in a cross-curricular drama workshop, but also an outdoor history, geography or science based activity around the Olympic site.
Choose from the following three activity packages:
From East London to Athens
- Freshwater’s ‘The Quest for the Olympics’ drama workshop - The Knight of Knowledge leads the children on an exciting journey to learn about the origins of the Olympic Games, the opening ceremony, the Winter Olympics, the range of sports and much more.
-
History of the Greenway walk - The Greenway will be the pathway to the Olympic Park for thousands of spectators during the 2012 Olympic Games. It is a footpath and cycleway which stretches across East London from Victoria Park to Beckton. Pupils are given a tour of the Greenway’s key features by a Victorian maid, including the Old Ford Lock, with some horrible history stories of the area.
Creatures of the Olympic Park
- Freshwater’s ‘The Quest for Living Things' drama workshop - The children must pass tasks, like outwitting an ogre and finding their way through the Forest of Forgetfulness, to show their knowledge of plants and animals to graduate as ‘Knights of Knowledge’.
- Habitats - Pupils get the chance to explore the woodland habitat around the Olympic Park, and look at the roles of different minibeasts through practical activities. This session also includes a minibeast hunt.

Olympic Scientific - Animals
- Freshwater's 'The Exploratorium: Animals - their habitats and lifecycles' drama workshop - Can the children's scientific knowledge and enthusiasm save the mad scientist Exploratorium machine? Or will the appearance of the disgruntled monster halt their mission in its tracks?
- Animal Olympics - The children will venture out around the Olympic site to explore how creatures adapt to their environment, using the Olympic events as a basis for a physical and fun learning experience.
A half-day session for two classes (60 children) costs £300+VAT. This does not include transport to the View Tube. Please contact us for more information.
